Tod Mountain Ranch
This is my beautiful home. I don’t know much to write about it.. It’s just beautiful but you can see that yourself in the pictures. The big lodge and the old barn blend in so well in the
surrounding.
I live on the second floor of the lodge, there is a little apartment with 3 rooms and a kitchen. Everything I need. And the horses are only across the road/down at the yard.
Heffley Louis Creek Valley
This is my home at the moment. Every day I have this view. This valley is just so beautiful! The first two pictures is the view in one direction and the second two the other direction. I just love it so much! And no matter if the sky is clear or the clouds are deep down in our valley it looked majestic either way. This world has so many beautiful places and I feel so grateful each time I may be in one of them.
Horses
There is a small herd of 6 horses called the senior herd. Most of them are very old and one has a broken leg. And then there is the big herd of 19 horses living in a huge
field. These horses are not “used”. These horses don’t need to “serve” the humans. Most of them are rescued because people didn’t want to keep them because they are not rideable. Means that they
can’t “use” them anymore. I’m so happy that there is a place like Epona Rise where they get a home and are not being send to slaughter!
But that they are not used doesn’t mean they don’t have a purpose in life. They are healers. They share their medicine with humans. It’s called horse medicine. And for me that is medicine for the
soul.
I often went out into the herd in my free time and just spend time with them. Expecting nothing from them. Just sitting or laying in the field sharing space with them. That is so so so so soooo
good! It’s calming and healing. Not that I had big issues I had to deal with mentally but even everyday things get balanced when I am balanced in my mind and soul.
Even though (or maybe because) I didn’t ask a lot of the horses they offered so much. I was allowed to sit next to them when they had a nap or slept. Even with horses that normally are not very
people orientated like Malachi, the grey horse in the second picture.
It’s a herd. I like all of the members individually but I also like all of them together as a herd. There is something about that....
For me this place is a paradise. A horse paradise!
Change
I have only been here 5 weeks but in that time the nature has changed so much! I took the first picture when I arrived, the second one after one week and the third one before I left. And the snow in the last picture came after two weeks, but it melted again. I loved to watch the nature change, in every state it’s beautiful in it’s own way. Interesting, how short the fall is over here...
