Salmon Run

One thing Canada is know for is probably the salmon. That’s why I was really happy when Laura, the cook at the Retreat Centre, asked me if I would like to come with her to see the salmon.
Every year salmon make all the way from the ocean to their spawning grounds in the creeks of the Canadian mountains. But only every 4 years there is a big run. And this year is the 4th year!!
It was very interesting to see this “event”. The circle of life was so obvious there. This is where the salmon were born, this is where they spawn and this is where they will die. And then the next generation of fish will live. A life like their parents and like their grandparents and so on.
This is no place where you can see the salmon jump in the waterfalls but there are hundreds of them in the shallow water. And even that is quite spectacular because there are soo many of them!
And apart from all that it has been a beautiful day and the colors of nature were shining so bright. I love autumn!
