Traveling means getting to know other cultures, other traditions. And for me that means spending Christmas away from home this year.
I really like traditions and I like to stick with them. There is something about them that feels familiar every time you do it. It’s like a home in an action. And just as I left home this year I
won’t have the tradition this year. But being away doesn’t only mean not spending the time as I used to with my family but it also means getting to know other people’s christmas traditions.
And for me that’s very important. It broads my mind to see how it can be different. Even though I’m not really going to celebrate Christmas here. Because that, too, is a way to deal with it.
Seeing Christmas like just another day. Like every other day.
And in the end all the tradition doesn’t matter so much because Christmas is not an act, it’s not something we do. It’s a feeling we carry in ourselves. That feeling of love and happiness. And we
really shouldn’t attach it so much to things and actions like a Christmas tree or a Christmas dinner.
