Pow-Wow

Already a few weeks ago I got the chance to go to a Pow-wow. That’s a traditional ceremony/ gathering of Native Americans.
For me the culture of the First Nations is so interesting. Having traveled to other countries in Europe as well as New Zealand, Canada and the USA, what I mostly met was a culture more or less similar to the German culture I grew up with. Only in Senegal and Mongolia I felt like I really found cultures, yet, that are not the western/european culture. And even though seeing the different facets of the western society is interesting as well, what really fascinates me is learning about cultures that are really different. Because seeing a bigger variety makes me realize more and more that there is no right set of values, that there are no “better” or “worse” traditions, that there is no wrong way of living. It’s all just different and it’s all good. I think it’s so important to get to know many cultures because it really expands one’s view on and perception of the world.
And apart from this general thought of that it’s healthy to get to know other things, I just think the First Nations had/have such a great way to treat the land, to be with nature and the spirit of all things.
And I love the art! It is sooo beautiful!
